Amherst Island Agricultural Society — Established 1860

Who Can Join

Anyone. Really — there’s no residency or age requirement to be a member in some form. The Society has three membership categories: Regular, Associate, and Junior. The differences come down to voting rights and eligibility to hold office, and they’re spelled out in full in the Society Constitution.

Benefits of Membership

  • Discounts on Pavilion and equipment rental rates
  • Discounts on some Agricultural Society events
  • A say in the Society’s direction — at the AGM and on committees
  • The quiet satisfaction of helping keep the fairgrounds, markets, and events alive

And there’s a practical benefit you might not think about: a strong membership helps us secure grant funding. Granting bodies want to see community support behind an organization, and membership numbers are the clearest way to demonstrate it. Every member — at any level — makes it easier for the Society to keep doing this work.

Annual Dues

  • $20 per person
  • $40 per family (immediate family members)

Our fiscal year runs November 1 to October 31.

How to Join

Payment by e-transfer is preferred — send your dues to: a.i.ag.society@gmail.com

Cash and cheque are also welcome if that’s easier for you.

In the e-transfer message (or a separate email), please include:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address
  • Your mailing address on the Island (if applicable)
  • Which membership category you’re joining (Regular, Associate, or Junior)
  • Whether you’re joining for the first time or renewing
  • For family memberships: the names of immediate family members included

A board member will reply to confirm your membership. That’s it — you’re in.

The Annual General Meeting

All members are welcome — and encouraged — to attend the AGM, held within 120 days of the end of our fiscal year (October 31). It’s where we review the year, approve financials, elect directors, and plan ahead.
